A 30-minute drive southwest of Calgary, the town of Turner Valley lies in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and is the birthplace of oil and gas in Alberta.

With a population of 2,167, Turner Valley is also the sister town of Black Diamond a mere 3 km away.

How to spend your time

Turner Valley is the perfect gateway to Kananaskis Country, with great opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, nature watching, camping and fishing. With its location on the Cowboy Trail, it’s also a great place to take in some historical sites and scenery as well. Golfers can head over to the Turner Valley Golf Club, while swimmers can venture over to Dr. Lander Memorial Swimming Pool to get in a few laps. Here’re a few restaurants to grab a bite to eat as well.

Turner Valley is also less than 10 minutes away from the Millarville Racetrack a centre of events for rodeos, farmer’s markets, and horse racing.
